Warm Spring Glam Makeup Tutorial by Genelle
Deck of Scarlet has teamed up with YouTube beauty artist Genelle to bring you Warm Spring Glam Makeup Tutorial. If you want to recreate the look using your Deck of Scarlet palette, please watch the featured video, then you can read the transcript of the video and watch the step by step images below:
Hi everyone. Welcome back to my channel. Today I have a makeup tutorial for you. And you guys have been asking for me to use more color and not as much neutrals in my videos, so I definitely did a pop of color in this eye look and created this for you, so I really hope you guys enjoy it. Also, this was the makeup look I was wearing in my last video, the Try-On Haul, and you guys were like, “What’s this makeup look?” or, “Do the makeup tutorial,” so I decided to do the makeup look, and I am actually collabing with Deck of Scarlet on this look.
So, Deck of Scarlet is a subscription. It’s where you get an eyeshadow palette, and it has three eyeshadow colors, two cheek colors, and then two lip colors to try. And it is $29.95 a month if you want to subscribe, and you get a palette each month. And what’s so cool about this subscription is they take the top beauty YouTubers and they collab with them. So, you’re not just getting a random eyeshadow palette, you’re getting it from people that you watch here on YouTube and that you actually care about and really want to support and watch them grow in their journey and all that kind of cool stuff.
So, the YouTuber that did this palette is Evon Wahab? Evon Wahab, I think it is or…I’m probably pronouncing that wrong, but she is so beautiful. This is her page. She’s so stunning, and she has a channel here on YouTube. Everything will be linked down below in the description box.
And it’s really cool that you can do a whole makeup look with the palettes. I’m all about that, especially when I’m traveling. The palette also comes with two pencils. It comes with an eyeliner, and also comes with a lip liner, here. I used the lip liner today with the lip color. And the palette itself is in a case like this, and you just kind of pull it out like so. And I’ll show you…so, you get this awesome mirror here, and then you get the three eyeshadow colors, and then the face colors, the highlight, and a bronzer. And then you have the two lip colors to choose from and you can kind of mix and match. So, this palette is absolutely amazing, and like I said, I used all of it to create this look today.
Also, what’s really cool about Deck of Scarlet, it is a subscription-type program, but if you’re not into it, or you’re not feeling it anymore, you can cancel at any time or you can even skip a palette. So, if you’re like, “Eh, I’m not really…I’m going to take a break for a second,” you can skip the palette. Also, you guys know with my healthy lifestyle and how I like to live my life, this product is cruelty and paraben free, which is so huge to me because we’re constantly using chemicals on a daily basis, and so if you can find something that’s a little bit cleaner and doesn’t harm animals and things in the making of it, that is a huge thing to support. So, another reason why I love Deck of Scarlet. So, like I said, check them out down below.
If you want to see this makeup look, please keep watching and subscribe for more. And I really hope you enjoy this.
A bit of ginger tea to start the day. Okay, so, first to prime my face, you guys, I am using the…this is the BECCA Instant Complexion refresher, and I mixed it—I’ve never mixed them—I mixed it with the Backlight Priming Filter. I’m obsessed with both of these. So, used that to prime my face and then used my Maybelline Fit Me foundation, and that’s what I started with.
Now, I’m going into concealer. I woke up really early this morning, so I’m a little bit tired and I have some bags, so I’m using the Becca Under Eye Brightening Concealer. Just taking a BH Cosmetics brush, and I’m just going to be plopping this right underneath my eye, and this just kind of combats, like, the darkness that you get, like, on your eye before you put on regular concealer. So, it’s really thick, so you don’t need a whole lot.
So, I’m just going to blend this out, and look at all the brightening it did already. It’s absolutely beautiful. And I’m just going to blend this out on my eyelid and right…like, right here. This is, like, where I get the most darkness is, like, more towards the center of my eye. Blending. Then with my NARS Creamy Concealer in light number two, I’m taking this right underneath my eyes. And you know the drill, you do, like, a triangle. Really put that on there. Extra coverage underneath the eyes, you know what I’m saying. And then on the sides of my nose, in between my chin, and blending. And always doing back and forth motions with my beauty blender because this just works out the product so it doesn’t get creasy and cakey.
Now to set my under-eye, I’m using the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder to set my face, or my under eyes. Whenever I, like, don’t have a lot in the top, I just go like this and spank it so that I can get a lot of product in the top. Perfect. Grab it like that. Taking it up my jaw to just set the foundation. You know the drill. This isn’t anything new. Taking an oldie but a goodie, I used to mix this in with body lotion to, like, give myself a nice glow, but recently, since I’ve been using, like, the liquid highlighter before doing highlighter at the end to be extra dewy, I came across my diamond in the rough, Copacabana Illuminator by NARS.
And I’m going to be doing the same thing, I’m going to be putting this on the back of my hand like so, taking the butt of my beauty blender and just dipping it in kind of mixing it around, and putting it on… Whoa, yes. Okay. Putting it on all those high highlight points just to give me a nice glow-y base before, like, everything. I just love to, like, be a dewy mess. You already know this, you guys. Come on. This has a little bit more of a pearlescent finish to it, so I like it. And it’s a little bit more liquid-y, you kind of have to work with it a little bit more. I still, hands down, love my Color FX, but this is good too.
With and ELF blush brush, I’m going to be taking the Laura Mercier powder again because I put too much highlight, like, by my nose. I’m going to be taking this and just putting this like this. And then, oops, I’m creasing on my eye, so I’m just going to take the powder and, like, put that all on my eyelid. Always powder your eyelids, people, especially if you’re doing eyeshadow. It’ll just help the eyeshadow blend better so it doesn’t, like, get stuck on your eye; like, it can just, like, blend really well.
So, now we’re going to go and do the eyes. Zooming you guys in real close because you guys say that you want to be closer, which I totally agree. So, here we are, up close and personal. I’m going to be using the Deck of Scarlet palette. So, this is the slip that it comes in like I showed you at the beginning. So, we’re just going to slip…Oh, girl. So, just like so, you have your eyeshadow and your cheek colors. I love using a transition color, and you guys know that I love tying in my bronzer with my eyes. So, the bronzer and the contour I’m going to be using is Sandstorm, but first, to tie it all in, I am going to be using Sandstorm all in the crease of my eye. Taking that on a fluffy brush, this is the Sigma Tapered Blending Brush E40, and taking that bronzer, I’m just going to take this all in the crease and just blending it up. The products in this palette are super pigmented, so really tap it off when you go to apply it or else you’re going to get a ton of color on your eyelid.
Now that we have a nice transition color, I’m going to be taking Sunshine, this vibrant orangey color, and just dipping my brush in it just a little bit like that, and this is the E25 blending brush. So, I’m going to be taking this right in the crease to give this pop of color. So, we’re just going to go right in the crease like so, kind of pushing it into the bone. See how it blends really nicely into this, like, brown color? That’s why I love mixing bronzers. And just gently blend it up so you don’t have, like, a line, and then always, like, flare it out. And then, to tie this in, I’m going to drag it underneath my lash line, just taking leftover product. Then with the blending brush again, I’m just going to blend these in and out.
So, now we’re taking a crazy twist and we’re taking this color, Mermaid, and I’m just dipping this brush into it. And this is the Pencil E30 Brush by Sigma. So, taking the product— there’s a lot of product on there—knocking it off, and we’re going to be applying this to the bottom lash line and then, also, to the corner of the top lash line creating, like, a wing; so cool, right? So, I kind of just blended this and then put it on my top lash line here to blend it all together.
With the brush that we used with the orange, I’m just going to kind of blend that. Then to darken up the outer corners, I’m taking the same E30 Pencil Brush by Sigma, dipping it right into Fudge, and I’m just going to go right in that crease just to darken it up. Then to blend it, just taking the E25 brush again, one of my favorites, and blending it.
So, now that we look crazy, we’re going to do our cat wing. So, this is the Wicked Gel eyeliner by Sigma, and I’m taking the Armani Angled liquid gel eyeliner brush, dipping that in the product, and then in the cap, wiping it off, scraping the sides. And we’re going to go in, and we’re going to do a wing. Okay. So, I’m just going to do the edge just because I want that. Okay, so now with my concealer brush, I’m just going to go in, clean it up. Yes.
Now it’s time for some mascara. So, the two mascaras I’m going to be mixing for top and bottom, I’m using Better than Sex by Too Faced and then the Carbon Black Telescopic. Okay, so now that mascara is on, I am taking my Ardell 600s cut in half, and taking black Duo glue to apply these lashes. So, I’m just going to blow on this and then apply this to the top. Bam, they are on. And to puff them up, I am going to be taking mascara and going on the inside of my eye because I like a lot of volume; just helps them blend better, too.
So, those are the eyes. Let’s finish the face. For bronzer, I am taking the Milani Baked Bronzer, in Soleil? I don’t really know. And the Heavy Lux Radiant Wand by It Cosmetics, this big puffy thing. And I’m just going to be bronzing my face before we contour a little bit. See how much, like, better that makes the whole look, look. It just looks so good.
Now that we have our bronzer on, I’m going to be taking Sandstorm in the Deck of Scarlet addition number one by Evon, and I’m going to just take my Sephora Blush Definition 74, and I’m just going to go right underneath the cheekbone just to bring out, you know, at the cheeks. Do you see that? What? Yes. Same thing to the other side. I rarely ever, like, really contour because I never find a good color to contour with, and this one’s, like, perfect. Like, the definition it gives is, like, so unreal. Perfect. Now, with the…Multi-task Brush by Real Techniques, can’t believe I forgot that, I’m taking Halo in the palette, and I’m going to be using this a little bit like blush. So, right on my cheeks and blending it up. It’s a highlight, but I want to just kind of blend it in because it has a little bit of color. And with this Inspire Brush, I am taking the highlight as well, dipping it in there…and the highlight is called Halo. I am taking the Halo highlight and going right in the corners of my eyes, and then brow bone.
Then, since I’m extra AF, I’m taking the Milani Strobelight Afterglow luminous highlight and the Sigma Tapered Highlighter, I’m going to be dipping that in there and doing my nose, above the lip again, and a little bit here.
Now for the lips. So, in the Deck of Scarlet palette by Evon, there is a side of two lip colors. One is in more of a coral color, and this is called Coral Kiss, and then there is Almond. As you can see, I’ve already tested it. I love it. I’m going to be using this for my lip color, but first, we’re going to use the pencil lip liner that came with the kit. So, the longwearing lip liner is here. It is this beautiful mauve color, which will really help blend in the darker lips. So, I’m just going to go outline my lips. There is the lip liner on, and now you’re done. Just kidding.
So, to apply the lipstick, I am going to be using the BH Cosmetics brush—this little tiny thing here—dipping it right into Almond, and we’re going in. How pretty is this mauve-y brown? I love. This, like, makes my teeth look white. Like, look at… What? I have white teeth? Yes. Yes, bitch. This is the Almond color, and if this is too dark for you, you can always take, like, a nude lip gloss to go over it, so I am going to do that. I am going to take Lipland’s…this is called Eden, and I’m just going to be putting this gloss…I’m just going to be putting this gloss over lip color. So cute, right?
Also, Deck of Scarlet came with a longwearing eye liner in black, so I’m going to be just taking this in the corners of my eyes and then on my waterline. So, final touches. Now to finish this whole look off, you have to set it because you want it to stay all day, all night girl. I am taking the Milani Make It Last 16-Hour Wear.
