SUMMER NIGHT OUT MAKEUP TUTORIAL by Jamie Genevieve
Recreate this look with the help of the transcript of the SUMMER NIGHT OUT MAKEUP TUTORIAL video + images with the steps: Hi, guys. Welcome back to my channel. Today, I have teamed up with Deck of Scarlet to show you how to create this look.
Deck of Scarlet is a makeup brand and every two months, they release a new palette, and it’s always in collaboration with a YouTuber or [INAUDIBLE 00:00:16], so it’s really, really cool. I’m sure you guys will have seen a few of their palettes before, but one of my friends, Sonjdra Deluxe, actually did a palette with them a while ago. So, it’s a really cool way to buy makeup because you’re supporting one of your favorite YouTubers. If you’d like to see how I create this look, stay tuned.
So, let’s do skin first. I’m going to pop on my Kypris. This is new. It’s the Antioxidant Dew Quench and Glow Serum. One, two, three drops. [INAUDIBLE 00:00:45] I’m going to push it in. Now, I’m going to stick on my moisturizer. This is the Super Multi Corrective Cream by Kiehl’s. I’ve been using this on and off for quite a while, but I ran out of my Skyn Cloud Cream, so that’s why I’m using it today. I actually do really like it though. It’s an anti-aging moisturizer, but also it just everything basically. When I got this, [INAUDIBLE 00:01:11] saying that it just targets pretty much every skin concern, so I was like, “That sounds good.” So, I’m just going to pop that on, so my skin is nice and fresh.
Now, the correct way to do the base… Alright, the way that I’ve been doing this, so I still look super bronzed, is I use my Tarte stick foundation in “Tan Sand,” and I just do lines down my face and my nose. Obviously, it’s pretty tanned on me, so what I do then is I get my Make Up For Ever Stick Foundation NY365, and I’m just going to draw some thin lines in between the Tarte foundation. I absolutely love mixing foundations. If you think that you’ve got foundation that you kind of like, but maybe it’s not quite the right texture for you, or it’s not the right color, try mixing it because it makes a huge difference.
Now, I’m going to get my Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate–you guys know I love this stuff–and I’m going to do the little drop thing. So, four drops: cheeks, chin and head.
Ooh, that’s [INAUDIBLE 00:02:27], and I was going to beauty blend all this in. The foundations mix really, really well together. I think the Tarte one’s a little more matte, and then the oil obviously makes everything super dewy, and the Make Up For Ever one is a little bit more dewy as well, so it’s just a nice combination. But actually, it’s not the most full coverage that I’ve done, but I quite like it. Quite fresh… It will suit this make up look a lot.
Then I’m going to bring that down my neck a little bit, and then I’m going to bronze this part of my neck with just bronzer. You can still see a little bit more blemishes, to be honest. You can see a little…a couple of little spots, but I much prefer my skin looking [INAUDIBLE 00:03:11], kind of sheer and dewy than super cake-y.
What I’m going to do now is, I’m going to get my Tarte concealer… This is actually the shade tan sand, so it’s a little bit darker than I usually use, but [INAUDIBLE 00:03:22] it matches my skin tone. I’m just going to spot conceal, and then I like to just add extra coverage in the middle of my forehead, around the sides of my nose and then obviously, a couple of little dots under my eyes. Blend that in. This stuff’s really full coverage, but you can see it kind of matches my skin color, so it’s not too light for covering blemishes. Also, I quite like using… Just my skin color under my eyes these days just because it doesn’t look so harsh, but it still gives me that nice brightness. That is a super glowy base. Perfect.
Going to use my PUR 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral makeup in the shade light tan, and I’m just going to powder my eyes. I’m using dabbing motions just so we don’t move the product around too much underneath… In between my eyebrows because that’s where I get super oily.
Now, I’m just going to take my MAC “Give Me Some Bronzer” with my Charlotte Tilbury [INAUDIBLE 00:04:36] brush, and we’re going to bronze our neck up, and then add a little bit of warmth to our cheeks and the rest of our face. Ta-da!
Now, I’m going to shoot off-camera, prepare my eyelids and do my brows, and then I’ll be right back.
Now, we move on to the exciting bits. I’ve got here my Deck of Scarlet, and what happens is we open up, and the inside is really chic. I love the packaging. We’ve got a note from Nazanin–I’m really sorry if I’m saying your name wrong–and inside it says: “Hello my loves, I was thrilled when Deck of Scarlet asked me to partner with them to put together this palette for the Kavari crew. I hope you like these pinks and peaches as much as I do. I can’t wait to see your beautiful faces and the looks you create with it.”
So, it’s super sweet, and it’s got all our social stuff there as well, and we’ve got a note from Team Scarlet saying, “Enjoy your July-August palette.”
Then, we take this foam cover off, and the inside… We’ve got the palette, and we’ve also got whatever is with it this month. So, this month, it is a liner. Let’s open this palette up. So, it’s really chic packaging… It’s super real packaged, so you don’t need to worry about things breaking in the mail or anything like that. Then in here, we’ve got this sleeve. On the back, we have…we’ve got a little message from Deck of Scarlet, and then we’ve got the ingredients for the palette as well.
So, we take the sleeve off… I like the way that they’ve done this because the packaging’s [INAUDIBLE 00:06:12] How cool is that? That’s something that you keep–imagine it was your face, you’d keep that forever. Inside, we’ve got the powder on the sides, we’ve got three eye shadows, a highlight, and a blusher. Then, you close that, and then on the other side, we have two lip colors. So, I can already tell you right now I’m going to use this one. It’s called “Birthday Suit.” It is a beautiful, deep nude. Let’s get into this.
I have put down my base shadow already, so I’ve prepped my eyes with [INAUDIBLE 00:06:41] Paint Pot, and I’ve popped a base shadow down. The first color I’m going to go for is “Feeling Peachy.” Now, this is a really beautiful orange shade, it’s got a little bit of shimmer through it, but I’m going to use that for my crease anyway.
Ooh! It’s got a good mirror in it.
So, we’re just using that through the crease, just the same movements as always–window wiper movements–and then using our brush… Buff that up. [INAUDIBLE 00:07:17] this out pretty high up, so I’m just using brush… The brush I’m using is this [INAUDIBLE 00:07:21] 221.
Now, I’m going to go in with the blusher “Baby Doll,” which is a beautiful matte pink, and we’re also just going to use this in the crease. I remember I used to use pink eye shadow all the time.
I think one of the reasons that I really like this idea of getting these palettes monthly is because it really makes you go out of comfort zone. If you feel like you’re stuck using the same colors, the same finish, the same product, it really does make you experiment…it really makes you experiment with makeup again. It’s been so long since I did something a wee bit more colorful.
That is gorgeous. Can you see that? So pretty. I’m actually going to use the same brush and the same “Baby Doll” blusher… [INAUDIBLE 00:08:10] under my eyes.
Now, I’m going to go in with the deeper color in the palette: “Taj.” I’m going to use the same brush again, and we’re just going to start building up that crease a little bit more, and I’m going to buff that slightly on to the lid as well.
Now, I’ve swapped my [INAUDIBLE 00:08:39] 224, and I’m just going to buff that underneath my lower lash line as well. Now, I’m going to go in with my finger and the shade “Sho Cute,” and I’m just going to pop that on as a nice, light shimmer on my lid… [INAUDIBLE 00:09:02] kind of brightens up a bit.
Now, I’m going to take the liner…the Deck of Scarlet liner in the shade “Coco Kavari”… It is a really gorgeous deep brown liner. It’s been so long since I used anything other than black, so I’m excited to try it out. We’re going to do some [INAUDIBLE 00:09:21], we’re going to do some wings. It’s the same point as super popular liners these days; it’s that brush point rather than the felt-tip, so it’s really, really easy to use. That is a really nice matte brown liner, and it’s matte…it’s like matte: there’s no shine off of this at all. I like it.
Okay, let’s do the same thing on this side. [Laughs] Let’s try. So, I’m messing up a little bit, but you know what you do? You just make them bigger.
Now, I’m going to chuck on some mascara. This is just my PUR “Fully Charged” mascara in black. Just like that, the mascara completely frames our eyes, and then we’re going to shove some lashes on. [INAUDIBLE 00:10:37] we’re waiting for the glue to dry on the lashes, I’m just going to go in with the shade “Baby Doll” again–the bright pink blusher–and I’m just going to pack that onto the creases one more time. I want to get it a little bit brighter.
Then, I’m actually going to jump into the highlight “Yasmin,” and I’m going to pop in a corner. Oh, that’s gorgeous.I’m just going to add that highlight just under my brows… Well, actually, I’m just going to go ahead and just finish off my skin while my lashes are drying.
So, I’m going to take the blusher in “Baby Doll,” and we’re going to apply this just to our cheeks, and it’s good because we’ve used this blush on the eyes; everything’s going to tie in really nicely.
Then, I’m going to take the highlight and the shade “Yasmin,” and I’m going to apply this to my cheeks. Ooh, that’s good. That is a good highlight. Wow, it’s really beautifully milled. It doesn’t look chunky at all. It’s super… Oh my God, I love it.
Then, I’m just going to apply that to my cupid’s bow. I’m going to use a slightly smaller brush… This is just my Kiko 01, and I’m going to use the very tip… I’m just going to apply that above my brow.
When the lashes are nearly dry, I’m going to go through my brows one more time with my little Maybelline brow gel just to make sure my brows are dark…there’s no highlight in there. I’m going to use my Deck of Scarlet–just the liner because it’s brown… I’m going to do my little freckle. Perfect! I needed a new one for that.
Now, I’m going to line my lips with Liar Lip Liner, the usual for me.
Then, I’m going to swap over sides, so you close the powder… The reason that they do this is so no powder gets on top of the lip products because they’re cream. The powder would just stick right on top, so it’s a really easy way to make sure that everything stays neat and tidy. I’m actually just going to go in with my finger, and I’m going to pat on. You guys know that I love finger-blending my products anyway.
So, it’s got kind of like a mix between a lip gloss and a lipstick, but it’s super pigmented, so it’s really comfy on, super easy to blend as well. Last but not least, we’re just going to do a little bit of highlight on the nose because I totally forgot.
Let’s set this bad boy. So, I’m going to use my Urban Decay All-Nighter Spray, and then I’m just going to push that in. I think this is super perfect for a summer night out look because it’s still super fresh on the skin, but you still got the drama with the…those wings.
Zoom you out. Whee!
So, you guys, that is the finished look. I really, really hope you like it. If you look down in the description bar, I will have a link to the Deck of Scarlet, and, you get 10% off your first purchase. Like I said earlier, I think it’s a really cool idea for people like me, who actually get stuck in a little bit of a rut, and they need something different to do with their makeup.
Please let me know if you liked this look, and comment down below for what you’d like to see from me next. Other than that, I will see you in the next video. Bye!
