Hey, guys, it’s Kayleigh, and in today’s video I will be showing you how to do this romantic and easy date night makeup tutorial. I’ll be using these two products here from Deck of Scarlet, which is a makeup subscription where every two months you get a new makeup palette with all the products that you need to create a full-face makeup look. These two products together cost less than one product that you’d normally get at Sephora or other retailers. So, just so you guys know, I did get this palette a little beforehand so I could use it for the first time and tell you guys about it, my first impressions. The palette comes with three eyeshadows, blush, highlighter, and two lip colors, as well as that little lip Chubby that you guys saw in the clip before.
So, I will be using all of those today. So, to get started, I am priming my eyes first with the Benefit Cosmetics Stay Don’t Stray in light medium, and then I decided to use the lip color in Mia, the Chubby add-on pencil. It’s a grayish taupe with a hint of brown. It’s very intense and long-lasting, I feel, the color that it gives, so I thought it would be a really good idea to use it as an eyeshadow base. So, I laid this down on my lids, and then I blended it out with my fingertips up into the crease. It feels very lightweight and very comfortable.
Then, over top, I am applying this shade right here. This is called Making Mauves. It’s a full-coverage eyeshadow. It’s like a deep mauve shade with a satin matte finish. It gives a very intense, high-impact, kind of dramatic look. It’s perfect for using in the crease to kind of shape out the eyes. So, what I’m doing is just laying this right over top with a really fluffy blending brush. I’m slowly adding this on and building up the color from the lash line, going all the way up to the brow bones, so that way it’s nice and diffused and blended.
Each palette that comes out from Deck of Scarlet is a collaboration with a YouTuber, so you get to play along with your favorite YouTubers and learn how to create their looks. So, for this palette, the artist was BabsBeauty. So, you guys may know her from YouTube. If you do, comment below. Once you’ve got this eyeshadow down, then you can go ahead and work on the eyeliner. This is a very, very easy look, guys. We only use basically one eyeshadow for the top lid. So, for eyeliner today, I decided to go with a liquid pen, and the reason being is because this is very easy to control. It’s easy to make a winged eyeliner with a liquid pen because it comes to a very fine point. So, the one that I’d recommend you guys to try is from Stila. It’s called the Stay All Day eyeliner. So, I’m bringing the eyeliner all the way from the inner corner to the outer corner and then just simply winging it up and outwards. To add some more glam to your date night look, you can apply false eyelashes, and I’m really loving these from e.l.f Cosmetics right now. They are called Winged and Polished from their Luxe Lash Kit.
Applying some Marula oil now to my face. I didn’t even realize I just squirted it all over the floor. So, this is a crucial step for me personally. If you guys have dry skin, you should totally try this. It will immediately hydrate it and make your makeup application go on so much smoother, like your foundation, your concealer. All of your cream products are just going to glide right on. So, I’m priming with the Tarte primer. It is the Clean Slate Poreless primer. And then I’m going in with my Smashbox Studio Skin concealer. This is in light medium. I decided for today that I was going to use it as a foundation, so I put it under the eyes; on the tip of my forehead; down the bridge of my nose; along my jawline area; the bottom part of my cheeks; and my chin. And then with my LA Girl Pro HD concealer in Almond, I used this as a contour.
So, I put this through the cheekbones; down the sides of my nose; a little bit on the tip of my nose; the outer corners of my forehead; and also around my chin, a little bit around the jawline. So, then, you have to add a little bit of brightness, so go in with a lighter concealer under the eyes; down the bridge of the nose; Cupid’s bow; chin; and middle of the forehead. And then dampen a blending sponge–this one that I have here is from EcoTools–and just pat it all in. It should blend in really nice and easily. But the reason why I like to kind of do this all at once is because it just makes it go by so much quicker rather than blending everything in individually. I love doing this kind of thing for a date night because usually I don’t have two… Like, I’m not going to spend forever getting ready. I’m going to try and get ready kind of quicker than usual, so I really like the idea of doing it all together like that. And then I just set everything with my Honest Beauty Invisible Blurring Powder.
This is called Bobdy. It’s a muted plum cheek color in a beautiful, silky texture. It just blends right into the skin. I feel like it gave a very flattering color to my cheeks. I’ve got to say, one of the main reasons why I love Deck of Scarlet is because they always come out with palettes that have very bold colors, and, for me, that’s kind of nice because I can go out of my comfort zone and try new things, try new colors, new products. All the products are full-sized as well.
I finished the cheeks with Gilded, which is the highlighter from the palette, which gives a beautiful radiance and nice kind of warm glow to the skin. Finished my eyebrows with the MAKE UP FOR EVER brow liner in 30 just to kind of darken them, give them a little bit more shape. And for this lower lash line area, I repeated the same steps that I did on the top lid.
So, you apply the lip color first as a base. Then you go in with the shade Making Mauves, blend that out, and then go in with this beautiful shade called Sophia. It’s a very sophisticated purple with a moderate level of pearl to it. It just gives a beautiful, clean, bright, and bold burst of color to the lower lash line, so that’s why I wanted to add it in there. Once you’ve got that all blended on there–and by the way, you want to try and keep that closer to the lash line–you can go in with a black eyeliner pencil and line the waterline with that, and then use a mascara, whatever your favorite one is, to blend your natural lashes into the falsies, and also along the lower lash line to help give them some definition as well.
After that, I applied Peachy Keen from the palette, which is a very intense peach. High levels of gold pearl to it, so it blends very easily and effortlessly. It provides an illuminating kind of finish to the eyes, which is why I really liked it and wanted to use it for the inner corners and the brow bones.
Going back again to that lip color in Mia, we are now going to actually use it for what it is intended for, which is a lip color. So, I am lining, first, my bottom lip, the outer corners of my bottom lip with this, then the outer corners of my top lip. And the reason I’m doing this first is because I just want to make sure that I got my shape down before I fill in the whole thing. So, once you’ve got that on, then you can work on over top this lip color in Brownies. It’s a grayish taupe with a hint of brown. I feel like it kind of adds the drama. And you can totally make this an everyday lip shade if you wanted to, but with this intense kind of smoky, purple-y eye that we’ve got going on here, it is the perfect date night lip.
