Hey, guys. What’s up? It’s Raven, and I’m back with another makeup video. Today I am bringing you this purple halo eye all purple everything. I’m really excited about this makeup look, because I tried something new. I did something different, and it actually came out pretty good, in my opinion. I never do purple looks. I don’t really do a lot of dramatic looks. I am going to be switching up my products and trying a bunch of new things in this video, including this palette by Deck of Scarlet. This is the palette that I’m using to create this look.
If you don’t know, Deck of Scarlet is a makeup subscription where every two months you get a new makeup palette. These palettes come with three eye shadows, two cheek colors, two lip creams, and a lip crayon. Not only do you get all of this for less than the price of most things at Sephora, but it is cruelty-free, paraben-free, and it is made in the USA. For 30 bucks every two months, you get a full-sized makeup palette. Each makeup palette is made in collaboration with a top beauty YouTuber. This palette is in collaboration with BabsBeauty here on YouTube. I think it’s really cool that they work together with YouTubers, team YouTube. It’s always good to support YouTubers. You can follow their channels, and follow along, and play along with their looks that they create. I did get my palette a little bit early just so I could play around with it and review it for you guys. If you are interested in Deck of Scarlet, there will be a link down below for you guys so you can check it out. Yes, this is the palette I’m going to be using today along with a bunch of other new products that I’m going to be trying out. If you’re interested in how I got this purple halo eye and this full face, then just keep on watching.
Okay, guys, to start off, I’m just going to prime my face with my Cover FX Mattifying Anti-Acne Primer. I’m also going to prime my eyelids with the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer. Moving onto brows, I’m just going to quickly fill them in with my E.L.F. Eyebrow Kit like I always do. Now that eyebrows are on, I’m going to go into some of my new purchases from Ulta. These are not new products on the market. They’re actually pretty old, and everyone loves them, everyone already uses them, but I’m just late to the game. It is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation and the Tarte Shape Tape Concealers. I got the foundation in the color Golden. I did, actually, already try this, and the color matches, actually, really good. The finish is really good. I don’t really have too many bad things to say about it except the one thing is that’s it’s not really super full coverage or as full coverage as I thought it would be. With all of my acne scarring and stuff going on right now, it doesn’t really fully cover it like I want it, but I do really like the color and the finish. So, I’m still going to use it today. But first, I think it will be best if I go in with the concealer first just to cover some of this first and then go over it with the foundation. I actually got the Tarte Shape Tape Concealers in two shades. I got it in Medium and in Deep. Here’s Medium and here’s Deep. I’m sure you guys have already heard of these concealers.Everybody, literally everybody, uses it, loves it, says it’s their favorite concealer. Like I said, I did already try these products once before. The original shade that I got was Light Neutral, I believe, and it was just way too light and way too bright for my complexion. I just did not like the way it looked, so I went back to Ulta today and picked up two different shades. I got a darker one, which is Medium, and then I got a super dark one for me, which is Deep. These concealers are actually meant to highlight and contour with, as well. I don’t really see that many people actually getting the dark shade to contour with. So, I wanted to try it.
Anyway, I’m just going to go in with a little bit of concealer first. I am going to put some under my eye just to start off with, but mainly, I just want to put it over my acne and acne scars just to help give me more coverage underneath my foundation. Now, I’m just going to blend this concealer out with a little foundation brush. I want to get a good coverage with it. I’m just barely blending it out, if that makes sense. First impressions on this shade of the concealer, the Medium shade, it is definitely oxidizing instantly. It’s oxidizing. It’s going a little bit orange. It’s getting a lot darker. Look right here. I don’t know if you guys can really tell, but it’s really oxidizing a lot. The first shade that I had, Light Neutral, did not oxidize. It just stayed as it was. Now, I’m like,“Is this even the right shade?” I don’t think this is going to work for an undereye concealer for me in this shade. I might have to go back again and try a third shade. I do feel like it did give me some coverage for my acne. Now, I’m going to go in with the Anastasia Stick Foundation. It just looks like this. I’m just going to draw it on just right on top of where I already put the concealer. Hopefully, this doesn’t cake up too much. I’m also going to do a few down my neck just to blend it down. I definitely feel like I got some better coverage from putting the concealer first underneath the foundation. That’s a little trick for you guys when you’re breaking out really bad or you have a lot of scarring and stuff to cover up. You can put some concealer down first, then put some foundation. Then you can go back over it with concealer again. It is a lot of layers, but it gets you that coverage. I think this stick foundation is good, but I’m going to like it more when my skin clears up and I don’t have as much to cover up.
Now, I’m taking the other Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, which I got in the color Deep. I’m going to be using this as my contour. I think this is, actually, really good for someone like me who has problem skin, if you have acne and stuff like that, because it is a concealer. It is concealing; it is giving you coverage. Right here where I have all these breakouts on my cheek, instead of making it look gross on top of my acne scars, it’s actually helping to cover up my acne scars even more, because it is a concealer.
I was going to go back and use the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in the shade Medium that I started off with, but since I saw how much it oxidized, I don’t want to use that to actually highlight my face. So, I’m just going to go back to my old trusty NARS Creamy Concealer. I’m going to go ahead and set under my eye with my Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder and my damp [inaudible 00:06:40] blender. Then I’m just going to take a little bit of the powder on a big fluffy brush and set the rest of my face.
The next new product is definitely not actually new on the market, but it’s just new to me, once again. This is the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer. I got mine in Medium Deep. It just looks like this. I’m just going to use this angled brush to bronze up my face. It smells so good. You definitely want to stick to matte cheek products if you’re breaking out on that region of your face, because anything that has any type of glow, or shimmer, or glitter to it is just going to make your breakouts stand out and look super textured, and it’s not going to look great. That’s why I got this matte bronzer, because I don’t have very many matte products.
We’re going to leave the face alone for now, and we’re going to move onto the eyes. I’m going to be using the Deck of Scarlet palette. The first shade I’m going to go in with is this middle shade here called Making Mauves, with a fluffy brush. I’m going to lightly start putting this in my crease. This shade matches my shirt perfectly, and the other shade matches my hair. These shadows are super pigmented, super blendable, really nice to work with.
Now, to help blend that out, I’m actually going to be taking the blush shade, which is called Bobdy, on the same brush and just blending that out even more.
Now, I’m taking a smaller eye shadow brush. I’m going to go into the really vibrant purple shade called Sophia, and I’m just going to start packing this on my outer corner of my lid just right there. Look how pigmented this is, and it matches my hair so good. Now, I’m taking a clean, slightly smaller fluffy blending brush. I’m going to blend out those edges. Then I’m just going to go back with my flat brush and pack on a little bit more color and blend again. Now, I’m going to do a little bit of a halo eye.So, going back into that blush shade Bobdy with this smaller fluffy brush. I am going to put a little bit in this inner corner. It looks like that.
Now, I’m taking another flat shader brush. I’m just going to wet it with any random setting spray. I’m going to go into this first eye shadow shade, which is called Peachy Keen. It’s a nice shimmery peach shade. I’m going to focus this only on the center of the lid, to give that halo effect with the purple on either side of it. Now, I’m going to go back and slightly blend out the edges. You have to keep going back and forth between packing it on and blending out the edges. Now, I’m going to go back to that fluffy brush and just blend out the crease. I think that’s pretty good. The blending is not perfect, but this is my first time doing this. So, I think it’s good for now.
Now, for the lower lash line, I’m just going to take a little bit of that blush shade Bobdy again. Then I’m going to take this small brush and wet it again. We’re going to go back into Peachy Keen. I’m just going to put some of that on my inner corner.
Now, I’m just going to do my lashes to finish off the eyes, and then we’ll be back to finish off the rest of the face. Now, lashes are done, and I also went ahead and contoured my nose just the same way that I always do. Now, to finish off the rest of the face, I’m going to go back into the Deck of Scarlet palette and go back into the blush shade, which is called Bobdy. I’m going to finally use it as actual blush.
You can see, even though it is a purple tone, it’s still a really pretty blush. Now, to highlight the face, I’m going to take one of my highlighter brushes and once again wet it with setting spray. I’m going to go back into the palette and go into the highlighter shade, which is called Gilded. I’m going to start off by highlighting my cheek bones, of course. This is a really soft, pretty highlight. Of course, on this side of my face, I’m just going to try to stay away from any breakouts that I have, because I don’t want to highlight my breakouts. I’m going to highlight a little bit on my chin, a little bit right above my brow. Then with a smaller eye shadow brush, I’m going to go back to the highlighter and highlight my nose and also my Cupid’s bow. I cannot forget my brow bone, also.
Now, for lips, I have a lot of options, because with the Deck of Scarlet palette, you get the two lip colors in there, plus you get the lip crayon with it. I think I’m going to try and keep my lips a little bit softer and more neutral since the eye is a little bit more dramatic. There’s a nice matching purple mauve-y lip liner on. Now, I’m going to go back into the palette with a little brush and pick up the lip shade, which is called Brownies. I’m going to start focusing this in the center of my lip. Those are the lips. I got it to match my shirt perfectly. We are so matching today, y’all.
Now, one last thing to finish off the face. This is a new purchase for me, once again, not actually a new product. I know; I’m late with everything. This is the Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray. I haven’t tried this particular formula yet. I’ve heard good things about it. I definitely have oily skin. Look at the purple packaging. It matches. Everything matches.
Yeah, guys, here’s the finished look, all purple everything. You got this slight little purple halo eye, which I’m really proud of for my first time trying it. I just have to say that. I got my purple wig; I got my purple top, all purple everything. I never wear purple, and I never do purple looks, but this palette pushed me outside of my comfort zone and made me want to try something new and use some new colors, which is what is really cool about this Deck of Scarlet subscription. Every two months you’re going to get a new palette, so you can always try something new. If you guys are interested in Deck of Scarlet, there will be a link down below.
