Hey, guys. Welcome back to my channel. I hope you’re having a great day so far. Today’s video is going to be a get ready with me on the look that I’m wearing today. I had a lot of fun chatting with you guys about some new products, some old favorites. Today’s video is sponsored by Deck of Scarlet. They were really kind, and they reached out to me and asked if I wanted to do a video with them. When I heard about their subscription service, I thought it was a really cool, unique idea that I would enjoy and that you guys would enjoy, as well. You guys know that I love beauty subscription services. I do a lot of unboxings on my channel. But this one is really unique. It’s a little bit different.
Every two months, you get a palette mailed to your door. Each palette comes with different makeup products. It comes with two lip products, three eye shadows, two cheek colors, and two pencils—basically, everything that you need to create a complete look. But I thought it was a really cool concept, especially because it is affordable. It’s only $29.95 every other month, and you get free shipping. You can skip at any time, and you can cancel at any time.
Everything is made in the US, cruelty-free, no paraben. I think it’s just a cool idea, because you don’t find these palettes in stores. They’re available through Deck of Scarlet, and each palette is a collaboration with a YouTuber. I love when companies support YouTubers. YouTube is my favorite thing ever. I watch so many channels. This palette was created by Evon Wahab. She is beautiful. She has so many gorgeous looks on her channel. She just chose some really fun colors for this month’s palette.
There are some bright shades, some neutral shades. No matter what look you’re going for, there’s going to be something that works for you. Thank you to Deck of Scarlet for reaching out to me. I thought it would just be a fun thing to try and share with you guys. If you are interested in signing up and trying it out yourself, I’ll have a link in the description box below. Otherwise, let’s jump into it, and I’ll show you guys how I got this makeup look.
Okay, guys, today’s video is going to be the first get ready with me type video that I filmed in my new setup. Obviously, I’ve filmed other videos here before, but I’ve really been wanting to film more get ready with mes, tutorials, wear tests, everything like that. This is going to be my first one. I hope that everything looks good. I hope you guys like it. Make sure you let me know in the comments below, because I definitely want to get into reviewing more products.
I’m going to go in with the Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer. This is an eye shadow base. It’s a little bit more hydrating than some of the other ones that I have. Since this eyelid is so dry… I don’t know what the deal is, but I had asked you guys in a previous video for recommendations when it comes to eye creams and moisturizers for dry skin. I feel like I’ve finally nailed down a good skin care routine that catered to everything. I have combination skin right now. It is still so oily, so I don’t really know how to classify it. But just when I thought I got a handle on it, I wake up, and my left eyelid is dry and my right cheek. It’s so weird. I don’t understand.
I’m just going to go in and set my eye shadow primer with this shadow right here. It is from ColourPop. It’s one of their pressed shadows. I’m using the Sedona Lace 305 brush. I love that eye shadow primer, but I do like to set it. I feel like that way, all of the other shadows just blend really beautifully on top of it. I’ve only swatched these shadows so I have an idea of what I want to do with the palette, but I showed you guys some swatches in the intro. I knew when I saw this green shadow that I wanted to apply it all over the lid. I think I’m going to go in with Fudge and use that one in the crease. I might save Sunshine for another day. It’s a really beautiful color. I do think it would look really beautiful with the coral lip color in the palette. You can create a really beautiful monochromatic look. I think it would look really gorgeous with the highlight and bronzer used as eye shadow. I might do a second look using this palette, if you guys want to see that.
In the meantime, I’m going to go in with Sandstorm and my Sedona Lace 863 brush, and just use this one as a transition shadow. I’m just going to apply this right in the crease area and a little bit above the crease, just so my crease color transitions really seamlessly from my lid to my brow bone. This is a really smooth shadow. It’s a bronzer, but it goes on really smoothly as a shadow. I like that it’s cool toned. Because to be honest, I don’t use a ton of cool tone shadows, but I feel like a cool tone bronzer is definitely the perfect addition. I feel like this color will just go really beautifully with the brown in the palette. I’ve been looking for the perfect medium brown, so I can’t wait to try this one and see if that’s it. That is probably good enough for now. I don’t want anything too dark or too crazy, because I have a tendency of just going crazy with shadow. Some people are really heavy handed with blush; I do that with eye shadow. I try to start off pretty light, because it’s really easy for me to get out of control so fast.
I’m going to take my Sedona Lace EB09 brush, and take this shade Fudge, which is a really beautiful dark brown. I’m hoping this is going to be my new go-to brown, because I really need one. When I swatched it, it was such a unique texture. It was really soft and smooth, but it wasn’t powdery or chalky at all. It felt like a satin, but it is a matte shadow. I’m really excited to apply it to the eye. I’m just going to focus this on the outer third and right in the crease. I just want to really darken it up, because I’m going to go in with the green shadow and place that all over the lid. I’m trying to keep the majority of the color below my crease and just very lightly blend it into the crease, because I don’t want it to get out of hand. I really like how this is looking, though, with a lighter space right here… I don’t know… I want to use the green, but I just want to put the highlight there. Do you have any plans for spring? Are any of you guys in college and going on a fun spring break trip? I don’t know if I ever did that in college, because I feel like I didn’t have any money in college, but it would have been fun if I did. We are going to Boston in a few weeks. I am so excited. I forgot to tell you guys. Because last time we went, a ton of you gave me so many good recommendations of places to visit or just things to see. If you guys have any more recommendations, I would love to hear from you, so please leave me a comment below. That is enough blending for now.
I’m just going to take a makeup wipe, because I want this to look pretty sharp.
I think I’m going to go in with the green and put it all over the lid. I was just going to do it on the lower lash line, which I think would be really pretty, too, but I want to use more of the shadow so I can show you guys how they really work. Let’s put it all over the lid. This color is beautiful. It’s going on so gorgeously. It’s very pigmented, very soft, but it’s not overly shimmery. I really like this color. I’m just putting it all over the lid. I’m mainly focused on the majority of it, but I left the very outer corner blank just in case I want to make it a little bit more dark and dramatic afterwards.
I’m just going to go back in with Fudge and just blend out the crease and the outer corner. I do want to keep the outer corner pretty dark brown and the crease, but I’ll leave the main part of the lid green. I’m just going to do a little more blending. I might blend some of the green away, so I might have to go back in afterwards.
I’m going to go in with my Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting and Serum and just use this to line my upper lash line. I have to get pretty close to the camera, so I’ll try my best to stay in the frame. I’m actually going to go in with my elf Liquid Liner. I think the Physicians Formula one is pretty much gone. I’ve used all of it. This one is back in my everyday makeup drawer, so let me use this one. You can’t even see what I’m doing. I used to use this every single day for years, and I forgot how much I loved it. I really like it. I feel like it just gives you a really precise application. It just goes on so dark and dramatic, and it just looks beautiful. Honestly, I struggle with winged liner so much. I don’t understand why after all these years I still can’t do it. I’m just going in with my elf Makeup Remover Pen to really make this look sharp.
For now, I’m going to go in with the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. My camera does have auto focus. I just never use it because it’s a little bit awkward; I don’t know if it’s focusing or not. Let me go in with this really quickly and do my lashes, so it can dry before I put on false lashes. I’ll just skip over this part, because you guys know what it looks like to apply mascara. That mascara is okay. It has been a little while since I’ve used it, so I was trying to decide if I still liked it or not. I’m not sure. My lashes are so short and pathetic. A lot of you guys told me to try castor oil, so I am going to try that on them. I sprayed my skin with the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water. My skin has just been a little bit irritated lately and a little bit dry, oily at the same time. But I feel like this just refreshes your skin, and it makes everything go on really beautifully.
I’m going to go in with the Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer. This one is in the shade Mood Light. They have a few different options. I have two of them in my collection, and I did put them inside my everyday makeup drawer for the month of March, so I want to make sure I use it. I’m just going to use this right in my T-zone area. It has very slight color-correcting properties to it. This one is a peach shade, so I feel like it helps with my redness. Honestly, the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer is the most amazing primer I’ve ever tried. I have a small size of it. I’m almost out of it. I have made it last for so long, because it is an expensive primer, but I am definitely going to end up repurchasing it. I just love it so much. But I am doing a primer declutter very soon. I’ve been trying to use other primers in my collection so I can get a better idea if I like them or not, or I need to declutter them. I do feel like this primer made my skin look better. It helped a little bit with my redness, so…I don’t know… I like it. Let’s see how it makes my foundation go on.
I just want to use a little bit of the Becca Dual Coverage Compact Concealer to just help with any obvious blemishes I have. My skin was doing really well, and honestly, it hasn’t broken out too much. It’s more just red and irritated. I think next week I’m going to give it a really good break from makeup. I don’t think it’s the makeup irritating it. I honestly think it is the weather, and it just can’t make its mind up. It might be the fact that I’ve been trying a lot of different skin care products, too. Makeup doesn’t usually irritate my skin too much, but I just want to give it a nice break from everything next week. Before then, I have a lot of other things to do, so it’s probably not going to happen until next week. I’m going to go in with the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Stick Foundation. I love this foundation so much. I’ve been telling you guys I wanted to use it in a video for a very long time, and I just haven’t used it because I’ve been using my Urban Decay All Nighter. I am going to use it today with the elf Ultimate Blending Brush.
I just apply a little bit to my nose area and right here, and then, I’ll start with the cheeks. I love this foundation. Honestly, the finish is so beautiful. It’s unlike any other foundation I have. I feel like it is full coverage, but it looks like skin on your face. A lot of other full coverage foundations just look cakey, and they look heavy. I just take this brush, and I buff it into my skin. It looks so beautiful. The only thing is that it does break down on me. It’s not a super long-wearing foundation for my oily skin. I feel like I can get it to last…I don’t know…maybe six hours, maybe more. But it will eventually break down on me, and I just get a little bit too oily. I feel like if you have normal skin, combo skin… I don’t know about dry skin. It doesn’t seem to cling to any dry areas on my face, so I feel like it probably would work well for dry skin, because it does seem to be hydrating. I just love it. I wish it just lasted a little bit longer on my skin. But look at the difference between this side and this side. It completely clears my redness. It just evens out my skin tone, and it feels so good on the skin. I love how this one feels. I love how Urban Decay’s All Nighter lasts, but I love how this one applies, and looks, and feels. It would be my favorite if it lasted all day long. I wear the shade Vanilla.
I am going to go in with the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. Mine is pretty much gone. I have used as much as possible. I took the stopper out so I could get it. I have had this since the summertime. It lasts, honestly, forever and ever. I have been trying out the Tarte Shape Tape and Kat Von D’s Lock-It Concealer Cream, but I still think I like this one better. I know that I like it better than Kat Von D, because Kat Von D creases on me, which… I’m just going to use the same brush to blend this out…which is lousy. I struggle with under eye wrinkles. I’ve just had them forever. They’re hereditary. My dad has them and I have them. Anyway, I feel like the Kat Von D concealer really creases. It makes it look so much worse. I don’t know what it is about the NARS concealer, but it does not crease on me.
If you guys have watched my videos recently, you’ve probably heard me mention that I am just in love with the Cover Fx Perfect Setting Powder. I cannot get enough of it. I love the Laura Mercier Setting Powder, too, but I feel like the Cover Fx one just makes your skin look like skin. It is a lot more expensive than Laura Mercier. I did the math, and I shared it either in a favorites video or a haul video. This one comes out to be $100 an ounce, and the Laura Mercier is $38 an ounce, which is crazy. I told you I have a heavy hand with eye shadow. I tend to have a heavy hand with powder, too. I feel like when you have oily skin, it’s one of those things that you feel like you just need to load on. I’m just going to take this Real Techniques brush and just blend a small amount into the rest of my face.
Let me quickly fill in my eyebrows. I do have a video on how I fill them in. I just use an eye shadow. It is so simple. I’ve been using this eye shadow brush for a really long time. And then I use the darkest shadow in the Maybelline Natural Smokes Quad. It’s just so simple. I’m not saying my eyebrows look the best; they definitely don’t. But if you’re just looking for something simple, this is a great option. This powder will stay in place. It will not melt off your face if you have oily skin. Not sure how my eyebrows are looking on camera. They’re looking a little bit harsh. They’re just not my favorite. I don’t know how…
Let me go in with the Deck of Scarlet Long Wear Eyeliner in the shade Chameleon. This one is a green. I’m going to use this on the water line and then, I’m also going to put some on the lower lash line, and smudge that out.
I’m just going to take the shadow Mermaid and just smudge it on top to give it a little bit more of an intense look.
Then, to finish off the eyes before I apply my false lashes, I’m going to take the shade Halo, which is the highlight shade, and just put this right in the inner corner, just to brighten it up a little bit.
Let’s finish up with the face and the lips, and then I’ll be done. I’m going to go in with the Sandstorm bronzer. This is the elf 105 brush. I’m just going to take this and use it to contour, actually. Because it is a cooler toned bronzer, I feel like it would look really beautiful as a contour. It blends really nicely, which I do like; and it doesn’t have any shimmer in it, which I also like. I’m just going to use it to slightly contour. It might be a little bit dark for me, actually. This side looks better. I think I just used a little bit too much on the other side. It’s really pigmented, so just keep that in mind. but it is really beautiful. I’m just going to take a little bit of it on a larger fluffy brush and just blend it all around my cheek area, to blend that one out and warm it up a little bit.
I am going to use the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. This one is in the shade Plum Rose. It’s a really beautiful, very subtle, natural color. I don’t want to do anything too intense, because I have a lot of color on the eyes. But I feel like this will just add a little bit more of…I don’t know… I love how this color looks, and I love how it smells, so any excuse to use it, I will. Then, I’m just going to take my Luxie 514 brush. This is actually a blush brush. I’m just going to take the Halo highlight and just apply it right to the tops of my cheeks. I’m not huge into highlighting. I feel like this one is a little bit more subtle, which I appreciate, because I don’t love the super obvious stripe of highlight. I just feel like it emphasizes my skin’s texture. This one is a little bit more subtle. It just gives you a bronzed glow-y appearance. I feel like you could put it everywhere, but I’ll stop there for now.
I’m going to go in with the Deck of Scarlet Long Wear lip liner in the shade Cake Pop. This is the most beautiful nude. I’m just going to line all my lips…my entire lips?…my whole mouth?…I don’t know what the right… Let’s just do it.
I wanted to go in with the shade Almond and just apply that with my finger, right on top. The lipstick is actually different than I thought it was going to be, in a good way. I actually haven’t had a ton of luck with lipsticks in this pan [inaudible 00:16:30] form, just because I feel like a lot of times they’re waxy, they’re not super pigmented. This one looks exactly like a lipstick in a traditional lipstick tube, but it feels a little bit more comfortable on the lips. I thought it would have a super glossy finish, but I really like the finish of it. Honestly, I am just really impressed with this palette.
I do think the color is a little bit dark for the eye look that I’m wearing, so I’m just going to go in with Buxom’s White Russian just to lighten it up a little bit.
That is the final look. What do you guys think? I love the green eye shadow, and I do really like the nude lip. At first, I thought it was a little bit too dark, but I think I’m a fan of it. I feel like it’s a little bit different than the typical super light pale nude lip that I usually like, so I think it’s really fun. To be honest with you guys, I am super impressed by this palette. I don’t try a whole lot of multitasking palettes, because I haven’t had a lot of luck with them in the past. I feel like when a company puts a bunch of different products in one palette, the quality can tend to go down, because they’re not just focusing on one formula; they have to perfect a few different formulas. But this palette was amazing.
The shadows blended beautifully. They look gorgeous on the eyes. Honestly, they are some of the most blendable shadows that I have tried. I really like the formula of this bronzer. I feel like it’s not powdery or chalky at all. All of these products have more of a satin feel to them, so they blend really nicely with minimal fallout. The lip products surprised me a lot. To be honest with you guys, I don’t generally reach for lip products in the pan form. But I love how it went on, and I love this color. I didn’t know if I was going to like it on me, because I usually go for a lighter nude. But I am a big fan of this palette. I cannot wait to see what else they create. I think that it is just a really cool concept.
If you guys are interested, I’ll have a link in the description box below. I think $29.95 every two months for a palette like this with an eyeliner and a lip liner really is a great deal, especially if the quality remains the same as this one. That’s all I have for you guys today. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch. I will see you guys in my next video. ‘Bye.
