Nelly Toledo: [Singing] The backdrops are back! The backdrops are back! [Laughs] I am back to doing backdrops, and this is only going to be for makeup tutorials, and when I’m doing other types of videos, I’m going to be using my regular setup. But I have been looking at other YouTube videos, and I love the way that a backdrop looks when you are doing a makeup tutorial, because I feel like you can focus more on the makeup, no so much on everything else that’s going on. So, I hope you guys don’t mind, change is always good, so we are changing it up around here for a little bit.
Let’s get into the video. Today, I’m going to be doing a makeup tutorial on this look that I have on right now. This is a very easy, beautiful, because dewy, summer look. I think this is the perfect look to end our summer. This is my last summer tutorial, the last one! We are getting into fall trends coming up, and I wanted to just kind of do something really nice and simple. We have no false lashes, we have a very simple wing, but we do still have a very nice, glowy, dewy skin, so that is what we’re going to be doing for today. I’m also really excited, because today, I’m going to be using the Nazanin Kavari palette, in collaboration with Deck of Scarlet. I’m really excited for her. And if you’re a part of the Kavari crew, you’re really going to like this. That is pretty much it, so let’s go ahead and get into the tutorial.
Okay, so, we are ready to start. My eyebrows are already done. I did them off-camera just to save some time. I also already primed and prepped my eyes for eyeshadow. So, for today, I’m going to be using the Deck of Scarlet Volume #03 palette. If you had no idea what Deck of Scarlet is, they are a subscription box. You get a makeup palette every two months for $30 bucks, and they always partner up with a YouTuber to create a palette. I wanted to do a makeup tutorial using this palette today, because this palette is in collaboration with Nazanin Kavari. I hope that’s how you say her first name. I know her last name is Kavari, because I am part of the Kavari crew, but yeah, she came out with this makeup palette in collaboration with Deck of Scarlet, so I had to show my support and do a makeup tutorial using it.
So, let’s pop it open. It comes in a super cute little slit. Once you get it out, this is what the palette looks like, it’s gorgeous. You open it up, and you have three eyeshadows, you have a blush, and you have a highlight, and then, on this side over here, which I accidentally stuck my nail in there, but you get two lip colors. So, I thought this was the perfect palette to kind of finish off summer.
So, let’s get into it. I’m going to take the middle shade, which is a brown color, and this is called Taj. And I am going to take this using a Sigma E40 blending brush, and I am going…by the way, it comes with a mirror, which is a really nice mirror. So, I’m going to go ahead and take the color Taj, and I am going to apply this in my crease, from inner corner, all the way to the outer corner. The color is pretty pigmented and it’s blending really nice. It definitely is a little bit more of a cooler tone brown. It’s not so much of a warm tone, at least in my skin color, it looks a little bit more cooler than other browns that I own, but it’s still a gorgeous brown.
I’m going to go in with the lush shade, and I’m going to take it with…this is another Sigma E40 blending brush, but this is their older version, this is the one that has, like, the natural hairbrushes. I’m going to take that brush with that blending brush, and I’m just going to put this right on top of that brown, just to give it a little bit more of a pinky flesh and tone.
I’m going to go in with this color, which is called Feeling Peachy, and I am going to take it using a Sigma E55, this is an eye-shader brush. I’m going to go ahead and spray my brush with some of the product beauty Read, Set, Go setting spray. I’m going to apply.
I am actually going to change the brush to the Mac 242 and go in withthat color. I feel like the other brush was a little bit too thick for this eye shadow, so I’m going to go in with a thinner brush and see how it applies better. That’s better. Get it right up in that crease.
I’m going to go in with a little bit more Taj, and I’m going to kid of blend that crease and that color together, because we don’t want to see where the color ends and where it starts. Now, going in with a makeup wipe, I am going to wipe up any fallout. I didn’t have a lot of fallout, but they always, for the most part, every single eyeshadow does have a little bit of fallout, so I’m just going to wipe that away, and clean out the outer perimeters. Whew! My hair is styling today!
So, this palette also came with an eyeliner. This one is called Koko Kavari, and it is…it’s not a black but it’s not a brown. It’s kind of like an in-between shade. So, I am going to create a little bit of…I’m going to create a wing with the eyeliner. So, I am not going to be winging it out. I’m just going to leave a little line, just like that. I don’t want to wing it out today, because I want this to be a little bit more natural looking, so I think that by doing a wing, it just kind of automatically makes it look very dramatic. So, I’m going to leave it just like this. Very natural! And so, I’m going to go ahead and do the same thing to the other eye.
Okay, we’re done! It’s a little bit thicker than what I was going for, for my liner today, but, you know, trying to make them both even, it just ended up escalating and escalating and we’re here, so we’re just going to leave it just like that. [Laughs] I’m going to go ahead and start on my skin, and then, we will be back to finish the eyes. Okay, for the skin, I’m going to go in with the dermatological Hydrablur Primer. I’m going to apply this to my problematic areas, which is right here by my nose, and a little bit on my chin, and then, whatever is left, I will go ahead and move it up towards the forehead. I’m going to take the Kevin Aucoin Concealer, in the shade EC04, and I’m going to apply this on the areas where I have some breakouts. My skin has been doing pretty good, but there’s always little suckers that show up unexpected. I’m going to blend this in.
For foundation, I am going to go in with the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation. I am in the shade 123. Using my super big foundation brush, I am going to just blend this into the skin. For concealer, I am going in, again, with the Kevin Aucoin Concealer, and EC03 this time, which is a little bit lighter than my skin tone. I am going to apply this to my under-eyes. I will take a little bit of this on my chin, my Cupid’s bow, down the bridge of the nose. I always do the bridge of my nose so damn crooked. On the bridge, and a little bit here in the center. I’m going to go in with my sponge and blend everything out. I’m going to start with my chin. That looks really, really pretty. I love this shade. I’m going in with a smaller brush. This is a Luxie Medium Angled Shading Brush 207. I’m going to blend out the center of my forehead, because I feel like the beauty blender is so big that it can kind of, you know, disturb the brows, or you can’t really get in there. So, I like to go in with these smaller brushes, and just kind of blend it out.
So, now, it’s to Set everything in place. I’m going to go in with the Pixi by Petra. This is their Quick Fix Powder in Translucid, and I am going to pop it open. I’m not going to use the applicator that it comes with, I’m just going to go straight into the actual powder, and I’m going to apply this under the eyes, to set that concealer. I’m not going to bake. I’m going to blend it into my skin. So, I am going to take it and blend that into the skin. I have been in love with this powder. It blurs everything, it makes everything look nice and airbrushed, and it’s so incredibly affordable, and I love it. Look at the difference between this side and this side. This powder is so good.
I’m going to go in with a brush, and I’m just going to run this under the eyes, just to remove any excess powder, even though we did a good job blending it in, you may have some leftover powder, and you don’t want that, because that’s when you can get the white cast and the flashback. I’m going to blend that out. Moving on to bronzer, I am going to take my No7 Bronzer, in the shade Golden Sand, and this is what this looks like. I have been so in love with this. I’m going to take it with the bareMinerals Blooming Blush Brush, and I am going to begin to apply this to the hollows of the cheeks, and around the perimeter of the face, wherever we want to look nice and bronzy. I love this color. Like, look at that color. It is such a natural looking color. It’s not too orange, but it’s not too cool tone. It is my favorite, and it looks so smooth on the skin. Like, I did not set my foundation, and it looks like I did. It looks really nice and smooth, and it looks beautiful.
I’m going to take a little bit of this bronzer, and I’m going to hit the side of my nose just a little bit, just to give me kind of like a natural nose contour. Nothing too crazy. So, I am going to go ahead and finish the eyes. What is going on with my hair? I am going to take this pink shade right here, which is called Sho Cute. I’m going to spritz my brush. And I’m going to apply this to the inner corner of my eyes. A nice pile of pink.
I’m going to take Taj one more time, and I am going to smoke this in my lower lashes, so smoking that out.
And then, I’m going to go ahead and line my waterline, using the Benefit High Brow. This is technically not supposed to be an eyeliner, but I absolutely love the color. It’s, like, a peachy shade, like a pinky-peachy shade, and I think it’s gorgeous. You can do a nude, you can do a black, or a brown, but this one is my favorite. So, I am going to apply this to my waterline, and I’m going to look this way, because that’s where my big mirror is. See? Like, it’s just such a pretty color. Well, good.
So, let’s go ahead and finish the face before we go back to the eyes, because I’m not sure if I want to do fall lashes or not, so hopefully, by the end of the face, I can kind of get an idea of what I’m going to do. I’m going to go in with the color Jasmine, and this is, I believe, named after her sister. I’m going to go ahead and apply that to the tops of the cheekbones. Ooh! It’s a very pretty, nice, subtle highlight. Nothing too intense, which I like for this look, because we’re going more for that natural, dewy looking skin. I like how it’s not glittering, and it’s not accentuating my texture, which I love. I’m going to put a little bit up in the arch of the brow, and blend it up towards that forehead to give us an overall glowy, wet looking complexion.
I’m going to go in with the blush Baby Doll, and I’m going to apply this to the apples of the cheeks, and a little bit back. Ooh, that is very pigmented. I’m going to apply that right there, take a little bit of that highlight with my ringer finger, and I’m going to work it in the tip of the nose, and down the bridge. I’m also going to take a little bit in my Cupid’s bow. So, we are going to go ahead and skip the fall season, so I am going to go ahead and curl my lashes, and once they are curled, I am going to go in with the L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara, and I’m going to apply this to my top and my bottom lashes. I wish I had individual lashes, because if I did, I would totally put those on instead.
Okay, so, the only thing left to do is lips. So, I am going to go ahead and take the color Majesty. This is a really pretty pinky color, and I think it’s going to go great with the look that we have on. So, I’m just going to grab this with my finger and apply.
Okay, so, this is a little bit too pinky, so I’m going to go in with Birthday Suit, which is a little bit more creamy, and put it right on top. That’s a really pretty color. Okay, so, the only thing left to do is go ahead and set your face. I’m going to use the Project Beauty’s Spray, Set, and Go. I’m going to finish my hair, and then I will be back to show you guys the end result.
So, I went ahead and did a messy bun. It’s a very, very messy bun, like, very messy. But that is pretty much it. I’m going to have everything linked down in the description box, where you can go ahead and find the Deck of Scarlet palette, everything will be down in the description. If you like supporting other YouTubers, I think this is a great subscription box, because every month, they do partner up with a YouTuber to create a palette. So, with that being said, I’m going to go ahead and let you guys go. Thank you so much for watching, and I’ll see you very, very soon, with another video. So, until next time, I will see you guys later. Bye!
