What is up, you guys? You guys notice anything different? I totally just click baited this video. Don’t hate me. I had to get you to this video somehow to talk to you guys about the wig that I’m wearing and also this really glow-y, fresh spring makeup look with a pop of color. Literally, spring is right around the corner, so I wanted to go ahead and film my first spring tutorial of 2017. I don’t know… I was really curious to see what I would look like with short hair, so this is it. This is the time that I get to test out what short hair looks like on me. This wig is from Myfirstwig. Personally, this would take me some time to get used to.
I know some of you might like it on me, and then there might be some that just absolutely hate it. I’m just trying new things. This is not permanent. It’s a wig. I can literally snatch it off my head, and my hair will be back the same. So please, please don’t go hard in the comments. Okay? I’ll tell you guys more about my hair at the end of this video, but this video is being sponsored by Deck of Scarlet. I got to try out some new makeup from them. Basically, Deck of Scarlet is a subscription-based website where they send you new makeup every two months.
All of their items are cruelty-free. You can cancel at any time, so you don’t have to worry about that. What really, really drew me to this company is that each palette that they come out with is a collaboration with a YouTuber. That part just really stood out to me, because I love supporting my fellow YouTubers, and it’s just a cool way for all of us to kind of support each other. Who knows? Maybe one of your favorite YouTubers might end up creating a Deck of Scarlet palette. It will be the perfect time to hop on that subscription service so you can participate. I’ll leave all the links to Deck of Scarlet in the subscription box down below. Stay tuned in this video. I’ll show you guys more info on my hair. So let’s go ahead and get into the video, guys.
All right, guys. So I’m just starting off with some MAC Soft Ochre paint pot as a base for my eye shadows. I’m just putting this all over my lids. My eye shadows can pop once I apply them. Next, I’m using my Laura Mercier setting powder, and I’m going to go ahead and set the eye shadow base.
Next, I’m going in with my Deck of Scarlet subscription box. As you guys can see, when you first open it, you get a little letter from Evon Wahab. That is the featured YouTuber in this month’s box. Can we just talk about the packaging? It is so cute. They really did a good job with the packaging. Inside you get two pencils, and then in the palette, you get three eye shadows, two lip colors, a highlighter, and a bronzing shade. Everything that comes in this subscription is enough to create a full face look. Right now I’m taking the color Fudge and putting this in my crease. Definitely, definitely check out Deck of Scarlet in the subscription box down below. It is only $29.95, plus you get free shipping, so definitely check that out down below.
Next, I’m using the Kat Von D Shade and Light palette. I’m just taking that orange shade, just to give the eye shadows more of an orange undertone. Then, I’m using Sunshine from my Deck of Scarlet kit, and I’m putting this over top of those two colors. Next, I went in with my Modern Renaissance palette. I’m taking Realgar, and I’m just going to go ahead and deepen up my crease a little bit.
And then, I’m using Sandstorm. I put this on my lids, but I didn’t really like the way that it came out. It’s a nice color but not for the look that I was going for. So I went back in with my MAC Soft Ochre paint pot, and I put that on my lids. Then, I used my Urban Decay Full Spectrum palette, and I took that orange shade. I was not really pleased with this palette at all. I feel like Urban Decay could do so much better. Literally, I had to pack on the orange. As you guys can see, it’s still not pigmented at all. Y’all can do better, Urban Decay. But the yellow looks decent. I put some yellow in my inner corners to brighten it up a little bit.
Next, I’m just applying some liquid liner, and I also decided to wing that out.
Now, I’m using some Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. I’m going to put this all over my face, just because my foundation can be a little drying, so I’m using this to give my face some moisture. Then, I’m going in with my Born This Way Too Faced foundation. Literally, this is the perfect match, especially since I’ve gotten a lot lighter.Definitely will probably need to up my shade as it gets warmer outside. I’m just going to go ahead and put this all over my face using my sponge.
Next, I’m using my Kat Von D Lock-It concealer. I’m just going to go ahead and highlight all the high points on my face. Next, I’m using my Black Opal foundation stick in Hazelnut. I’m going to go ahead and contour my face using stippling brush.
Then, I just use my makeup brush set, and I use one of the brushes from there to contour my nose. Then, of course, I always have to go back on the bridge of my nose and just re-highlight that, because I feel like it kind of goes away. Next, it’s time to set our face. I’m going back in with my Laura Mercier setting powder. I’m going to set under my eyes, and I’m also going to clean up my contour.
Then, I just went in with a powder brush and brushed that away. I am going for a really glow-y skin, so I’m not going to let this sit on my face for a super long time. With any extra powder, I just sweep that on my forehead. Next, I’m going in with my L’Oréal True Match powder, and I just use this to set my contour. Next, I’m just going in with my Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, and then I apply my lashes over top. Next, I just went back in and highlighted my brow bone.
Now, I’m using some MAC Soft Ochre paint pot again, and I’m putting this on my lower lash. And then I just went in with some blue eye shadow to really make this look pop. Next, I’m just going back in with my mascara over top. And now, I’m using my Urban Decay All Nighter spray, and I’m going to set my face.
Then, I’m using the highlighter from my Deck of Scarlet kit in the color Halo. Oh, my gosh, y’all, this is one of my favorite parts of this kit was the highlighter. I love, love, love it. I’m just going to go ahead and highlight my face.
Next, I’m using this random lipstick from Coastal Scents. It’s a really pinkish nude. It’s a little bit too light. It makes my lips look kind of ashy, so I went back in with this other new color. Like I said, I’ll try to link that in the subscription box down below, as well, because I don’t know the shade.
Moving onto my hair… Like I said, my hair is from Myfirstwig. This wig is perfect for those of you that are new to wigs. In your box, you get your wig in this really nice box. It’s perfect for storing it. You get a wig stand. You also get this really cute bag with all the tools that you need to style your hair. You get a little instructions brochure. You get a rat tail comb. You get some bobby pins; some clips; and you also get an elastic band, which I did not use. As you guys can see, I’m literally just curling my hair. This hair originally came in a bob. I’m going to put in some pictures on the screen right here of what it looked like before I chopped it and made it really short. It was not planned for me to make it this short. I was literally just trying to taper the back so that it came a little bit closer to my neck. I ended up going really overboard, and I got this short look that I have now, which I actually like better than it was before. I don’t know… This look is kind of different for me. I feel like the bob was kind of basic, regular bob, nothing special about it. But this look is different and something that I’ve never done before. As you guys can see, I’m literally just curling the hair away from my face with my flat iron.
Some pieces were bigger than the other. I really wanted it to look like messy beach waves. As you guys can see, I’m just working with it. I’m not making anything super uniform. Not even going to lie to y’all. I was a little bit nervous, because I was like, “This looks a hot mess, but just work with me.” I ended up figuring it all out.
Here I am just moving it to the opposite side to see what it would look like, and there I go again, moving it back to the other side. All right. So I ended up changing my outfit. Here I am trying to figure out whether I wanted to wear the choker or not. I feel like it looked better without the choker, so this is the final look. I hope you guys enjoyed this look. If you did enjoy it, make sure you give this video a thumbs up, and comment down below what you guys want to see next. I’ll see you guys in the next video. ‘Bye, guys.
